Medical Markets & Applications
Catheters:
Foster has been intimately involved in the interventional and CVC catheter market segments since our inception in 1989. Our expertise in this segment comes from years of supplying compounded functionality into polymers such as radiopacity, color, surface friction technology, among others.
These devices are small…and have gotten smaller as time goes on. Through this evolution, Foster has adopted to the needs of medical device OEM’s and practitioners in this market by finding functionality that has met the needs of their devices, and their patients need for positive outcomes.
While fluoroscopy is still the dominant imaging technique used in interventional catheter procedures, Foster is keeping our eyes on the future. We are developing functional technology that will also allow for alternative imaging devices, such as MRI and ultrasound.
Permanent Implants:
Foster’s expertise in the implantable material segment is un-matched in the industry. This is another example of expertise and experience that has been built up over many years. Our polymer expertise in this segment covers durable and non-durable solutions. Functionality includes color, imaging visibility, and bio-active bone growth technology among others. In addition, we have a Class 7 clean room for compounding these types of critical applications.
