Foster Corporation – Looking to Maintain and Propel Position in the Medical Compounding Market

Putnam, CT (July 12, 2021) – For over 32 years, Foster Corporation has served medical device and pharmaceutical manufacturers with industry-leading technology and services in biomedical materials. These include custom medical compounds, highly engineered compounds, implantable materials, drug/polymer blends, and value-added supply chain solutions. Within three ISO 13485:2016 facilities, Foster offers comprehensive support to customers from formulation development through production of custom compounds for FDA Class I, II, and III devices. Foster’s infrastructure has been customized to meet the needs of medical device OEMs, as well as tier one and two suppliers.

Maintaining this legacy is of paramount importance to Foster’s management, as well as associates, and customers. Keeping this goal in mind, after being with the company for 18 years, Amar Nilajkar was recently promoted to vice president of business development. He is now leading Foster’s global compounding business, as well as the global commercial efforts in sales, marketing, and application development engineering.

Nilajkar stated, “My educational background and experience handling customer projects, sales and product management have provided me with a broad outlook on how things progress through the system at Foster and what our customers want.”

Prior to his promotion, Nilajkar was Foster’s director of international business for the past four years and successfully grew Foster’s international market presence. He worked his way up through Foster’s operational, technical, and commercial teams with a high degree of success. During his first year as VP of business development, he wants to focus on, “Maintaining a platform for our teams to provide valuable solutions and solve complex problems for our customers.”

When asked about some goals for his team, Nilajkar responded, “My priority is going to be application development and innovation – those are the two focuses I will push to the team.”  He continued on to say, “We want to make sure our R&D and engineering teams complement each other; so my attention is on ‘how do we allow our teams to interact with our customers in a way that we can leverage our technical expertise?’”

Nilajkar will be replacing Larry Johnson, who led the efforts for the last six years, as vice president of global business development. Johnson will now lead Foster’s material distribution efforts as president of distribution.

These new advances in the company will strengthen Foster Corporation’s commitment to customer service while solving material challenges for customers and providing solutions that drive innovation in the medical device industry.

“With my educational background and experience handling customer projects, sales and product management I get a big picture idea of how things progress through the system at Foster and what our customers want from Foster”, expresses Nilajkar.

Nilajkar has been Foster’s Director of International Business for the last four years and has successfully grown Foster’s international sales. His focus within his first year includes “creating a structure within the commercial group that is focused on customer solutions and not just selling” says Nilajkar. “I would really like to provide solutions to customers that is value-based and try to solve complex problems for our customers.” He goes on to say “we currently do a great job with sales, no doubt about that. I want to bridge that gap between those areas, so we are looked at as a technical company and not just a sales organization trying to sell material to customers.”

When asked about some goals for his teams, Nilajkar responded “my main focus is definitely going to be application development and innovation – those are the two focuses I will push to the team.” He continues on to say “we want to build the R&D team and the engineering team to compliment that. So my attention is on ‘how do we allow our team to interact with our customers on a level that is seen as technical expertise?”
