Key Markets & Applications

Medical Markets & Applications

For over 35, years Foster, LLC has supplied biomedical polymer materials to a myriad of medical device OEMs and medical component suppliers to manufacture innovative medical devices.  Our applications range from interventional catheters to orthopedic implantable devices, among others. Our customers trust our materials for use in FDA Class I, II, and III medical devices in a multitude of medical market segments.

Catheters:

Foster, LLC has been intimately involved in the interventional and CVC catheter market segments since its inception in 1989. Our expertise in this segment comes from years of supplying compounded functionality into polymers, such as radiopacity, color, and surface friction technology.

These devices are small…and have gotten smaller as time goes on. Through this evolution, Foster, LLC has adopted the needs of medical device OEMs and practitioners in this market by finding functionality that has met the needs of their devices and their patients’ need for positive outcomes.

While fluoroscopy is still the dominant imaging technique used in interventional catheter procedures, Foster, LLC keeps our eyes on the future. We are developing functional technology that allows for alternative imaging devices, such as MRI and ultrasound.

Permanent Implants:

Foster, LLC’s expertise in the implantable material segment is unmatched in the industry. This is another example of expertise and experience built up over many years. Our polymer expertise in this segment covers durable and non-durable solutions. Functionality includes color, imaging visibility, and bio-active bone growth technology, among others. In addition, we have a Class 7 clean room for compounding these types of critical applications.

Other Medical Market Segments:

While catheters and implantable materials have been a focus for Foster, LLC through the years, we have participated many medical market segments successfully. Our vast polymer expertise enables us to solve problems in critical medical application segments that also require the medical infrastructure, capability, and quality systems (ISO 13485) that medical OEMs and component suppliers need and expect.
