Foster Expands Global Engineering Support to Asia Pacific

Foster Corporation, a leader in custom polymer formulations for medical device and drug delivery applications, now offers regional technical service and product development support in Asia Pacific. Amar Nilajkar, a ten year veteran of the company, will support medical device and pharmaceutical customers in the region from a newly established office in India.

Foster Corporation, a leader in bioresorbable polymer formulations for implantable medical devices contributed to the article, "Growing Popularity of Bioresorbable Polymers" in the December issue of Medical Plastics News. Tony Listro, Managing Director of Foster Delivery Science discussed compounding, mechanical properties and degredation times, claiming that, "Compositions with higher hydrophilic and amorphous structures and a lower molecular weight resorb faster, yet often sacrifice mechanical strength. Conversely, higher crystallinity and molecular weight improve mechanical properties and decrease resorption rates”.

Foster Corporation was recently ranked in the Deloitte Technology Fast 500™, a ranking of the 500 fastest growing technology, media, telecommunications, life sciences and clean technology companies in North America.  Technology Fast 500 award winners are selected based on percentage fiscal year revenue growth from 2007 to 2011. Foster Corporation exerienced revenue growth of 149% during this time period. 

Foster Discounts Material for Small Volume Users

A recent price increase issued by Arkema Inc. for  Pebax® and Rilsan® MED polymers has altered the Foster pricing structure. Despite these escalations, Foster Corporation will be offering a price reduction on small volume purchases beginning on November 15, 2012. Price reductions are intended to stimulate application development programs and will vary among medical grade. 
 

Foster Reports Increased Interest in Implantable Applications by Polymer Suppliers

The Connecticut Technology Council (CTC) and Marcum LLP have recognized Foster Corporation as one of the top 40 fastest growing technology companies in Connecticut in 2012. Winners are grouped into six areas of technology including Software, IT Services, Life Sciences, Advanced Manufacturing, New Media/Internet/Telecom, and Energy/ Environmental Technologies and are selected on the basis of revenue growth over the last four years. Foster Corporation was featured as an Advanced Manufacturing comapny along with APS Technology, EDAC Technology, EDAC, Reflexite Corporation and RSL Fiber Systems. 
 
 

Foster Offers Clean Room Radiopaque PEEK Compounding

Foster Delivery Science, a business unit of Foster Corporation that specializes in contract development and manufacturing of implant and drug delivery polymers, now offers custom radiopaque PEEK compounds for use in long term orthopedic implants. A twin screw extruder within the company’s Class 7 cGMP clean room is designed to produce development PEEK compound batches as small at 5 lbs (2.27 kg) through production quantities.
